A retired Army Colonel convicted in the 2015 drunk driving hit-and-run death of a Colorado State Trooper was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Tuesday.

Eric Peter Henderson, 52, must also serve 5 years parole. Last month, he pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol stemming from a November 15, 2015 incident in which he struck State Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, 33, as she was attempting to direct a vehicle along the highway.

After striking Jursevics, Henderson drove his vehicle down the roadway for another mile before pulling over and checking the front of his truck. He was stopped by another trooper at that time and taken into custody.

Henderson had been returning from a Broncos game and had consumed six beers prior to driving. His BAC at the time of his arrest was .199, nearly 2.5 times the legal limit.

Trooper Jursevics left behind an 8-month old daughter.

Three officers were injured in East Hartford, CT after they were struck by a suspect vehicle trying to flee the scene of a drug offense on Tuesday afternoon.

The officers noticed the suspect, 52-year old Kevin McNeilly, allegedly using heroin inside of a vehicle near the Hampton Inn & Suites when they approached his car.

McNeilly allegedly tried to flee the scene but backed into two officers, pinning them against another vehicle. When McNeilly turned to drive away he struck yet another officer.

He was located a short distance away and ultimately apprehended following a brief chase. He is currently in custody on $1 million bail.

The officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two of the officers were released and one was kept overnight for observation. All three officers are expected to survive.
