Governor Greg Abbott of the State of Texas has signed a bill that effectively outlaws "sanctuary cities" from the state of Texas.

"Let's face it, the reason why so many people come to America is because we are a nation of laws and Texas is doing its part to keep it that way," the governor said.

The legislation requires local law enforcement to comply with federal detainer requests and also allows local law enforcement to question the immigration status of individuals that they detain.
