Phoenix: Officer Involved Shooting After Man Drives Car Toward Officer

Phoenix police shot and killed a man on Wednesday evening after the suspect allegedly tried to drive his car toward a police officer.

The incident occurred after officers tried to stop the suspect for speeding. The suspect fled and was subsequently located at a shopping center.

After the suspect refused to exit the vehicle he began to ram his car into the police cars behind him.

At one point, he allegedly tried to drive his car toward an officer. At that point the officer discharged his weapon.

The suspect ultimately died of his injuries.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said, "The officer then was behind the vehicle and he heard the vehicle begin to accelerate and move towards him, at that point he fired his duty weapon, striking the suspect."

Two Phoenix Officers Injured, One Stabbed, in Fight With Handcuffed Suspect

Two Phoenix police officers were injured this morning when a handcuffed suspect managed to produce a knife and attack the officers. 

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. outside of a Circle K store in the area of 17th Avenue and Van Buren Street.

The 60-year old suspect had been in the back of one of the officer's patrol vehicles when the assault occurred. 

One officer was stabbed in the back of the leg and another officer suffered injuries to his forehead while trying to subdue the suspect.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are said to be in stable condition. 

The suspect had initially been taken into custody related to a stolen vehicle.

Driver Plows Into Phoenix Cops in Apparent Intentional Act, Injuring Three

Three Phoenix police officers were injured early Tuesday morning after a man drove a vehicle into them. Police have said that the assault may have been intentional.

The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. after a man drove his vehicle through the parking lot of a convenience store, striking two officers who were standing in the lot. The car then drove into the store itself. 

Three officers were injured in the indecent, two seriously. The driver was taken into custody after a struggle with an arresting officer. 

Police believe driver impairment may have been involved.

Phoenix: Officer Injured, Suspect Killed, After Officer Attacked

A Phoenix police officer was injured and a suspect killed after engaging in a brutal fight on Friday morning.

The incident occurred when a Phoenix police officer, investigating a suspicious vehicle, was confronted and attacked by a suspect who had emerged from behind some bushes.

The officer and assailant fought until a detective, hearing the officer's plea for assistance, came to the scene.

When the suspect made a move for the officer's gun, both the officer and detective opened fire. 

The suspect was struck by gunfire and attempted to flee the scene; however, he collapsed and died a short distance later. The officer suffered a broken nose.

The shooting is currently under investigation.

Phoenix Officer Dies From Injuries Sustained in Wednesday Shooting

Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser, 35, has died from injuries he sustained in a Wednesday shooting. Officer Glasser had responded to a call of a man stating that his son was stealing his guns.

Officer Glasser sustained grave injuries in the shooting and was listed in "extremely critical" condition until succumbing to his injuries this morning. 

Officer Glasser was a 12-year veteran of the police force and leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Police Chief Joe Yahner said of Glasser, "We lost a hero."

BREAKING: Phoenix Police Officer Shot, Condition Unknown

BREAKING NEWS: A Phoenix police officer has been shot after responding to a burglary call. The extent of the officer's injuries has not been reported. 

The shooting apparently occurred in the area of 51st Avenue and Baseline Road. 

The suspect in the shooting was reportedly shot and killed.

Phoenix officer shot multiple times, suspect on the loose

A Phoenix police officer was shot and seriously wounded after making a vehicle stop during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

The suspect, or suspects, fled the scene and were still on the loose as local authorities engaged in a massive manhunt to locate and arrest them.

"Thank goodness he was wearing his vest," said Police Chief Joseph Yahner. 

The officer, expected to survive, was listed in serious condition at a local hospital.
