DC Police Shoot, Kill, Man Who Charged at Officer With Large Hunting Knife

A Washington, D.C. police officer shot and killed a man after the suspect, who was also described as being high on PCP, charged at him with a large hunting knife.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon after police responded to a call of a man with a knife in Northeast DC.

When an officer confronted the man and ordered him to drop his weapon, the man charged at the officer.

The officer fired once, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police sources told a local news outlet that the suspect, Darick Napper, 34, was high on PCP at the time of the assault and shooting.

Incidentally, DC police officers were involved in another shooting of an individual under the influence of PCP in the same area last year.
