Missouri Police Officer Shot, Killed During Traffic Stop; Manhunt Underway for Suspect

A Clinton, MO police officer was shot and killed during a vehicle stop on Sunday night. A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect.

Officer Gary Michael, 37, was shot after stopping a Dodge Nitro at approx. 10:45 p.m.

The suspect fled the scene but police have identified Ian McCarthy, 39, as a person of interest.

Missouri Deputy Killed in Vehicle Accident With Bus

A Barry County (MO) Sheriff's Deputy was killed on Friday morning after being involved in a vehicle accident while en route to a call for service. 

Deputy Carl Cosper, 56, was heading to a domestic violence incident when he was involved in a vehicle accident with a school bus. The driver was the only occupant of the bus and he was uninjured.

Deputy Cosper had been with the force for 10 years.

Attacks on Police in Texas, Missouri, and Florida Leave One Officer Dead and Two Wounded

Sunday proved a particularly dangerous day for police officers throughout the nation as officers in Texas, Missouri, and Florida were victims of ambush attacks.

San Antonio police officer Benjamin Marconi was shot and killed as he sat in his car writing a ticket. The assailant in that incident fled and a manhunt is currently underway to capture him.

Hours later, a police officer in St. Louis was shot in the face after a vehicle pulled up alongside his and opened fire. That assailant was later killed in a shootout with police. The St. Louis officer was said to be conscious and communicating at the hospital in critical but stable condition.

The incident in Florida occurred on Sanibel Island, along the state's Gulf Coast. A police officer was injured after a suspect opened fire during a traffic stop. That suspect was taken into custody later in the evening.

Missouri Cops Save Newborn Baby Born on I-70

A couple of Oak Grove, MO police officers were given quite the surprise when they came upon a woman who had just given birth along I-70.

The officers rushed to assist the woman and immediately found that the newborn baby was not breathing. Officer William Anderson cleared the baby's airway and helped to get him to start breathing. 

“I roll him over, open his mouth. He has meconium in his mouth. I sweep it out, put the towel on his chest, give him a little sternum rub, basically say a prayer and he breathes and starts crying," Officer Anderson said.

The newborn and his mom were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are said to be in good health.

Missouri Cops Rescue Baby Fox Stuck in Storm Drain

Officers with the Kearney, MO Police Department didn't know what to expect when they responded to a call of a noises coming from a storm drain late Wednesday night. What they found surprised them.

Officer J.D. Garton and Sergeant Joe Kantola navigated over 150 of drainage pipe before finding and rescuing the source of the noise: a baby fox.

The fox was safely removed from the drainage system and taken to a local wildlife shelter for treatment. It will be nursed to health and eventually released.

Missouri Officer Recovering After Motel Shooting

A police officer in Independence, MO is recovering after being shot at a local motel yesterday. The officer was responding to a call of an assault at the Deluxe Inn when the shooting occurred.

The officer was treated and is expected to recover from his injuries. His name has not yet been released.

A suspect was arrested on scene and taken into custody.
