NYPD Sergeants Union President Ed Mullins stated, “New York City is right now mourning the loss of a police officer who was dedicated to the City of New York, and we have our mayor who has just gone to Germany to join protesters. Is this the type of city we want to live in?"

Mullins added, "Where we are failing is in political leadership."

The lawsuit alleges that Black Lives Matter and it's leadership was responsible for the violent attack by inciting violence against police. Black Lives Matter leaders DeRay Mckesson and Johnetta Elzie are named in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit states that Black Lives Matter, "incited the violence against police in retaliation for the death of black men shot by police." It further stated, "In fact, they justified the violence as necessary to the movement and war."

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price voted against a ceremonial measure on Wednesday to honor fallen law enforcement officers, stating, "I think it's interesting in this country how you again try to frame the narrative with regards to other people who've lost their life at the hands of law enforcement."

Price apparently argued that fallen police officers should not be singled out for their sacrifice unless all lives lost within society are similarly acknowledged. Many disagreed with Price's sentiment.

The resolution ultimately passed 4-1 (Price abstained) and flags around Dallas County will be lowered on Friday to honor the sacrifice of all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
