Two Chicago Police Officers Shot, Wounded in "Targeted" Attack

Two Chicago police officers were shot and wounded in what was described as a "targeted" attack late Tuesday night.

The officers were patrolling the city's South Side when one or possibly two vehicles pulled along the officers' vehicle and opened fire.

Witnesses described the sound of the gunfire as being consistent with an assault rifle.

Both officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to survive.
