NFL linebacker Cam Gordon, who previously played for the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, made a decision recently to hang up his football pads for a career in law enforcement.

Gordon, 25, had recently been cut by the Chiefs when he decided that he wanted to pursue another career with meaning.

Gordon said, "I came to the realization that I just wasn’t performing the way that I once was."

He then added, “So I said, ‘What is another career that will allow me to have an impact, have influence on younger kids and also leave behind a positive legacy?’ Instantly, state trooper, law enforcement, jumped into my mind.”

Gordon applied for and was recently accepted into the next Michigan State Police training academy.

Gordon still has a long way to go before hitting the streets as a State Trooper; however, here's wishing him luck in his new career.
