Phoenix: Officer Involved Shooting After Man Drives Car Toward Officer

Phoenix police shot and killed a man on Wednesday evening after the suspect allegedly tried to drive his car toward a police officer.

The incident occurred after officers tried to stop the suspect for speeding. The suspect fled and was subsequently located at a shopping center.

After the suspect refused to exit the vehicle he began to ram his car into the police cars behind him.

At one point, he allegedly tried to drive his car toward an officer. At that point the officer discharged his weapon.

The suspect ultimately died of his injuries.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said, "The officer then was behind the vehicle and he heard the vehicle begin to accelerate and move towards him, at that point he fired his duty weapon, striking the suspect."
