An arrest has been made in the "ambush-style" shooting of two Miami-Dade police officers earlier this week.

Officers Terence White and Charles Woods were working undercover surveillance at an apartment complex on Monday when a suspect opened fire on their vehicle with an AK-47.

Both officers suffered bullet wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. They are both expected to survive.

Officer White apparently was able to identify the shooter from having previously arrested him on other charges.

On Wednesday, police arrested 19-year old Damian Thompson and booked him into jail on charges related to the shooting.

He is reportedly a local gang-member with a history of contact with police.
