Shootout at Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Leaves Suspect Dead

A 47-year old man who had apparently gone to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office in Temple City, CA to register as a sex-offender died on Monday after a shootout with police.

The man allegedly opened fire on deputies after they attempted to place him under arrest for outstanding warrants. 

Deputies returned fire but the suspect ultimately died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No deputy was injured in the shootout.
