Florida Governor Rick Scott, outraged at the refusal of State's Attorney Aramis D. Ayala to pursue the death penalty against accused cop-killer Markeith Loyd, has removed her from the case and reassigned it to another attorney.

Gov. Scott said that Ayala's actions "made it clear that she will not fight for justice and that is why I am using my executive authority to immediately reassign the case to State Attorney Brad King."

In speaking of the families that lost loved ones, allegedly at the hands of Loyd, Governor Scott added, "These families deserve a state attorney who will aggressively prosecute Markeith Loyd to the fullest extent of the law and justice must be served."

Governor Scott had asked Ayala to recuse herself from the case but she apparently refused, prompting him to remove her himself.
