GA Sheriff's Deputy Killed While Saving Employee from Chemical Spill at Local Business

A Georgia Sheriff's Sergeant was killed over the weekend as he tried to save an individual from a chemical spill at a local business.

Richmond County Sheriff's Sergeant Greg Meagher, 57, was overcome by chemical fumes as he rescued a worker at a healthcare facility.

The rescued employee survived the incident but Sergeant Meagher ultimately succumbed to the fumes.

Authorities believe the toxic fumes were likely liquid nitrogen.
