WA Officer Blinded in December Shooting Returning Home From Hospital

A veteran Mount Vernon, WA police officer, gravely injured after being shot in the head while responding to a disturbance call on December 15, 2016, is being released from the hospital and heading home today.

Officer Mike McClaughry, 60, is returning home for the first time after being shot in the line of duty.

Doctors had not expected Officer McClaughry to survive; however, he has made a remarkable recovery.

Officer McClaughry, unfortunately, was blinded in the shooting and has not recovered his sight. 

The family is inviting the public to line the streets of Officer McClaughry's homecoming today at 1:30 pm.
