Colorado Deputy Shot on Friday Showing "Promising Progress"

A Douglas County, CO Sheriff's deputy seriously injured in a shootout on Friday is showing "promising progress," officials said.

Detective Dan Brite was shot while responding to a call of a man carrying weapons and ammunition.

As the man, identified as 40-year old Randall Rodick, entered his RV to drive away, he allegedly opened fire on deputies, striking Brite.

Det. Brite was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Although his injuries were serious, Det. Brite is now responding to stimulus, doctors report. 

Suspect Rodick was shot and killed by police on scene.
