The man accused of killing a Johnson County (KS) Sheriff's Deputy in a vehicle accident last weekend may have been in the country illegally, the Daily Caller reported.

Adrian Espinosa-Flores, 38, is accused of drunk driving and crashing his truck into the back of Deputy Brandon Collins' patrol vehicle while Collins was conducting an unrelated car stop.

Although he fled the scene, Espinosa-Flores was captured and has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apparently placed a detainer on Espinosa-Flores, indicating that he is wanted in relation to some type of immigration violation.

Deputy Collins was 45-years old at the time of his death and had been with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office for 21 years.
