A police officer in Jackson, GA was shot and injured early Tuesday morning and the suspect is currently at large.
The incident occurred after Jackson police officer Sherry Hall approached a man in a wooded area to check on his welfare. When she contacted the man he became aggressive.
At some point, the suspect pulled a gun and fired at Officer Hall, striking her in her lower abdomen. Officer Hall was wearing body armor at the time.
The suspect fled on foot and is currently at large.
Officer Hall was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a deep bruise.
