A Kansas sheriff's deputy was killed early Sunday morning after his patrol car was struck from behind by a motorist.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office Master Deputy Brandon Collins had just conducted a vehicle stop in Overland Park when he returned to his patrol vehicle.
A passing motorist struck Deputy Collins' patrol car, causing Collins to sustain fatal injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter.
