Within hours of a similar incident occurring in Huntington Beach, CA, a Nevada trooper's life was likely saved when a bullet fired by a suspect was deflected by the trooper's badge.

The incident occurred on early Friday during a vehicle stop on Boulder Highway. One of the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot after the stop and the trooper gave chase.

During the chase, gunfire was exchanged between the Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and suspect.

The trooper was fortunately unhurt in the exchange; however, the suspect died as a result of injuries sustained in the shootout.
