A cop-killer who fatally shot a Tennessee police officer this past week apparently penned a note in which he blamed the police for his and his family's "misfortunes."
Brian Stalans, 44, was taken into custody after shooting and killing Maryville Police Officer Kenny Moats, 32, following a domestic disturbance call. Stalans had apparently been in an argument with his father, necessitating a police response.
Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said that after arresting Stalans, police found a note in his house in which he, "blamed the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and his family for his misfortune."
Officer Moats was a 9-year veteran of the force and leaves behind a wife and three children.
