St. George Police K9 Rossko died on Wednesday from complications related to surgery to treat a case of bloat.

Although Rossko had been taken to the veterinarian early the disease had progressed to a point where he could not be saved.

K9 Rossko had been partnered with Officer Joe Watson since 2014 and was credited with 44 arrests and the seizure of a large amount of contraband.

Officer Wilson was understandably upset over the loss of his partner. "I will especially miss seeing everybody's shocked faces when he used to crawl out from under my desk and surprise everyone. He loved people and was never one to pass up a pat on the back or a scratch behind his ears," Watson said.

K9 Rossko was only 5-years old.
