A 5-year old New Jersey boy used his allowance to buy lunch for local police officers to show his appreciation for keeping his community safe.

William Evertz, Jr. began saving his allowance months ago, at first to buy a Power Wheels police car.

Instead, he decided to use the money to buy lunch for more than a dozen officers from the Winslow Police Department.

Of young William's act of kindness, veteran police Detective Sgt. Ray Cogan said, "It's one of those things that restores confidence in humanity. It makes you tear up. It's nice to see that you're still the good guy."
