Indiana Lawmaker Seeks to Make Threatening Police a Felony

A Indiana State Representative has made known her intentions to introduce a bill during next year's legislative session that will make threatening any specific police agency or public safety personnel a felony.

Rep. Wendy McNamara said that her bill is meant to show support for Indiana's law enforcement community.

Saying she couldn't "sit on the sidelines" while police officers throughout the nation were attacked, Rep. McNamara added, "I'm not naive enough to believe that merely having these on the books will deter those who wish to do our police officers harm from doing so, but it will give our prosecutors tools to deal with the very real situations of criminal gang activity and threats made to our officers."
