LAPD Motors Officer Injured in Intentional Hit-And-Run, Suspect Arrested

An Los Angeles Police Officer was injured Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run incident that police believe was intentional. 

The officer was riding his department motorcycle on I-5 when he was rear-ended on the freeway.  

According to witnesses, the suspect intentionally struck the motors officer and then pushed him down the freeway for approximately one-half mile.  

The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is now resting at home. 

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled from the scene after the accident; however, he was later taken into custody. 

Philip Newlyn, 28, was booked into jail on charges of attempted murder.
