An Alabama sheriff's deputy was hospitalized on Saturday after being shot multiple times by an armed suspect.
The injured officer, reportedly a member of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, had responded to a call of a man who had shot and killed his son's dog while also setting fire to his son's house and car.
When deputies arrived on scene, the man allegedly took his wife hostage and commenced a tense standoff with police.
At some point, the suspect allegedly shot and wounded a deputy on scene. The injured deputy was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. He was said to be in stable condition.
The suspect eventually turned the gun on himself and died on scene. The hostage was unharmed.
