Man Uses Police Radio to Call in Fake "Officer Down" Call, Then Taunts Police

An unidentified suspect likely used a stolen or lost police radio to call in a fake "officer down" scenario in New York on Saturday.

The incident occurred after officers on duty heard a person say there was an officer shot in the South Bronx. Scores of officers and public safety personnel went to the area only to then be informed that the call was a hoax.

The suspect then got on the police radio and taunted the local police captain, stating, “Captain, remember how you put me in jail? Well I’m out now and I’m gonna put a bullet in your head, son."

The precinct captain eventually got on the radio and urged the suspect to turn himself in; however, the suspect has not yet been located.
