May's crime stats showed a deplorable amount of violence in the nation's Second City. Some key findings:

  • There were 66 homicides in the city of Chicago in May - a 40% jump from the 47 murders in the city during the same month in 2015
  • Through May, there have been 248 murders in the city of Chicago -  a 48% increase from the 164 killed during the first five months of 2015
  • May saw 318 shootings - a 20% increase from the number of shootings in May, 2015

A dramatic jump in violence, no doubt.
