A New Orleans police officer is in grave condition and suffering from a massive brain injury following a vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
Officer Natasha Hunter, 31, was seated in her car and parked along the shoulder of eastbound I-10, assisting another officer in the investigation of a multi-vehicle accident, when she was struck by a passing vehicle.
NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said of the incident, "We would ask the entire community to pray for our officer...she belongs to the entire community."
Officer Hunter is a 12 year veteran of the force and has a 5-year old child.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Officer Hunter was taken into custody.
