A Long Beach Police K9 died on Tuesday after being shot following an hours-long police standoff with a barricaded man.

The incident unfolded after officers attempted to contact a man wanted in relation to a 2014 shooting that involved multiple victims.

The suspect barricaded himself inside a house but after about two hours emerged.

The suspect was not compliant and ultimately produced a knife and charged the officers.

One officer discharged his weapon as a result of the suspect's actions. Both the suspect, as well as LBPD K9 Credo, were struck by gunfire.

K9 Credo was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment but died as a result of his injuries. The suspect was also killed.
