A suspect is in custody following the shooting of two Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies on Thursday evening.

Juan Manuel Martinez, 39, was taken into custody Friday morning after officers used tear gas to force him out of a home where he had barricaded himself.

Martinez is suspected of shooting a motorcycle deputy after the deputy pulled him over for failing to stop at a DUI checkpoint.

Martinez allegedly engaged in a second shootout with officers responding to the first shooting. In that incident, another deputy was struck and injured.

The injured deputies were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One of the deputies was listed in critical but stable condition and the other in fair condition. Both deputies are expected to survive.

Martinez is being held on $10 million bail.
