A man suspected of shooting two Fremont, CA police officers has been found dead inside of a barricaded home.

The man had barricaded himself in the home following a lengthy manhunt. Negotiations had been started in order to persuade the man to surrender.

At some point, police shot gas into the house.

A fire broke out and eventually fully engulfed the home. A search of the home revealed the man dead inside of a closet. It was unclear what his exact cause of death was.

The incident began after the man allegedly shot a police officer on a car stop Wednesday afternoon. After fleeing the scene, the man shot another police officer.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One officer was still listed in critical condition.
