The San Jose, CA Police Department suffered a tremendous loss on Tuesday afternoon after SJPD Motors Officer Michael Katherman was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Officer Katherman was on-duty and traveling northbound on N 10th Street when a vehicle pulled in front of him, striking the officer. Officer Katherman was transported to a local hospital but ultimately died from his injuries.
Officer Katherman is the second San Jose police officer to die in the line of duty in just over a year. In March, 2015, Officer Michael Johnson was shot and killed while responding to a call for service.
Officer Katherman was an 11-year veteran of the force and leaves behind a wife and two young boys.
