NYPD Officer Injured After Man Tries to Take His Duty Weapon

An NYPD officer is recovering from a knee injury today after a man walked up to him and tried to wrest his gun away from him on Tuesday.

The officer was standing in the Bronx when a suspect, identified as Ronald Santos, walked up to him and tried to pull the officer's gun from it's holster. 

A struggle ensued until a nearby security guard came to the officer's assistance. The officer suffered a knee injury as a result of the attack.

Santos was taken into custody and is facing charges including criminal possession of a weapon, robbery, assault on a police officer, and reckless endangerment, among others.
