A Port Angeles, WA man led police on a high speed chase before opening fire on the officers Saturday morning. Four police officers suffered minor injuries in the incident.
The incident began Saturday morning as officers attempted to pull over James Sweet, 38, for a minor infraction. Sweet allegedly refused to pull over and instead led officers on a high speed chase.
After crashing into another vehicle, Sweet allegedly exited his vehicle and opened fire on officers. Police returned fire, striking Sweet multiple times.
Sweet was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
