An Aurora, CO police sergeant is recovering today after being attacked and hit with a tire iron while responding to a call for service on Sunday afternoon.

Sergeant Pat Domos and another officer responded to a call of an assault at the home of Brandon Bayless, 26.

After being let into the home by Bayless's mother, Bayless allegedly attacked Sgt. Domos and struck him in the head with a tire iron.

Domos fired his gun in response; however, no bullets struck the suspect. The other officer on scene subsequently used a taser to subdue Bayless and take him into custody.

The injured sergeant was treated and released from a local hospital. Bayless was charged with felonious assault on a police officer.
