Bruno, an Anaheim Police K9 who was shot in the line of duty two years ago has died of complications related to his injuries.
Well known in the Anaheim area for his heroism, Bruno died on Wednesday morning.
His injuries were sustained on March 20, 2014 after he located a suspect who had allegedly opened fire on probation officers.
When Bruno found the man, identified as 21-year old Robert Andrew Moreno, the suspect opened fire and shot Bruno in the jaw and chest.
Officers returned fire, killing Moreno; however, Bruno was gravely injured.
Although Bruno would undergo multiple procedures and surgeries throughout his convalescence, he would ultimately succumb to complications from his injuries.
