A Brandon, VT police officer found himself responding to a unique call yesterday when he came across an injured owl in the roadway.

Instead of leaving the small animal to suffer, the officer instead got the animal out of the roadway and made efforts to contact animal control services.

When no one from animal services was able to respond, the officer found a volunteer from the Vermont Institute of Natural Science to take custody of the owl and provide it treatment. Turns out the animal had no internal injuries or broken bones and is on it's way to recovery.
