VA Trooper Unhurt After Being Shot at Saturday Night

A Virginia State Trooper was unhurt after a suspect opened fire on his police vehicle following a chase on Saturday night.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Markese Lewis, failed to stop for the trooper after nearly causing a vehicle accident with another SUV.

After the trooper gave chase, Lewis allegedly exited his vehicle and opened fire on the trooper, striking his patrol vehicle multiple times.

Lewis was taken into custody shortly thereafter and no one was reported injured. He is facing charges of attempted capital murder on a police officer, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, among others.
