Utah Police K9 Aldo Shot and Killed

A police K9 with the Unified Police Department (Utah) was shot and killed on Wednesday evening during a standoff with an armed suspect.

As SWAT officers and K9 Aldo entered a residence where the suspect, David Shane Anderson, was located, a gunfight erupted. Anderson was allegedly wanted for outstanding warrants.

K9 Aldo was mortally wounded in the exchange of gunfire. Officers returned fire, injuring Anderson, who was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Sheriff James Winder said of K9 Aldo, "He is being treated with honors at the scene and we'll continue to do so as we address him."
