A police officer in Kalamazoo, MI who recently took a stolen bicycle police report for an 11-year old boy decided to purchase the boy a new bike when his investigation failed to recover the missing one.

Officer Ronald Maynard decided to buy the young man a bike to replace his stolen one, prompting a grateful response from the boy and his family.

Officer Maynard purchased the bike on his day off and surprised the boy and his family this past Monday.

The incident was the second time this past week that officers have purchased new bicycles for those in need.
