San Antonio Officer's Radio Stops Bullet in Apparent Road Rage Incident

A San Antonio police officer's radio protected her from a bullet after she was shot at multiple times by an assailant while driving to work earlier this week.

Officer Crystal Torres was in full uniform and driving her personal vehicle to work when a man, identified as Jose Antonio Rivera, cut her off on the roadway and opened fire.

Multiple bullet rounds struck Officer Torres's vehicle and one bullet struck her police radio located on her gun belt.

The radio likely prevented the bullet from striking Officer Torres, who was unhurt.

Officer Torres followed the suspect vehicle as it attempted to flee but incoming officers located and arrested Rivera.

He is currently in custody with a bond of $75,000 and is being held on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
