A donation jar at a Yorktown 7-11 collecting money for the family of fallen Virginia State Trooper Chad Dermyer was stolen late Tuesday. It was unclear exactly how much money was taken.

Photos of the perpetrator were caught on the store's surveillance cameras.

Trooper Dermyer was shot and killed on March 31st as he and other troopers were engaged in a training exercise at a Richmond Greyhound bus station.

The suspect, James Brown III, and Trooper Dermyer engaged in a brief conversation before Brown pulled a handgun out and shot the trooper multiple times in the chest, killing him.
