Watch Chattanooga Police Officer Save Woman From Suicidal Leap Off Bridge

The Chattanooga Police Department released dash-cam footage of an officer rescuing a suicidal woman from jumping off of a bridge on Saturday.

The incident began when officers were called of the scene of a woman sitting on the ledge of the Market Street Bridge.

Chattanooga Police Officer Steven Meador attempted to engage the woman in conversation but she was dismissive.

As the woman stood up, apparently about to jump, Officer Meador rushed into the scene and pulled her from the ledge.

Officer Meador said of the situation, "The only thing that I’m thinking is, ‘I cannot let this lady jump.' I knew, most of the time, you can engage in conversation and de-escalate the situation, but she wasn’t having any of it.”
