A veteran United States Border Patrol agent was killed early Monday after he was involved in a traffic collision following his shift.
Agent Jose Daniel Barraza, 29, had just completed his shift at the Sierra Blanca station when he was involved in a rear-end collision with a large truck on Interstate-10. Agent Barraza died on scene as a result of his injuries.
Agent Barraza was also accompanied in his vehicle by his K9 partner; however, the K9 suffered only minor injuries.
Agent Barraza joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 2008 and leaves behind a wife and two children.
