7-year old Darien Hoefling was sworn in on Thursday as an honorary member of the Mount Holly Township Police Department in New Jersey. Darien is recovering from two surgeries after being diagnosed with a brain tumor last year.

While recovering, Darien made keychains for police officers at the local department to show his support for the profession. His kindness and support in light of his own difficult recovery did not go unnoticed by the local department.

Officer Debbie Brewer told a local media outlet, "When he came to the police station to give us these key chains, I was just in awe; like he's unbelievable. Once I met him, I knew why everybody loved him so much."

To show their appreciation, the Mount Holly PD swore Darien in as an honorary officer. He told local WPVI, "I had fun with all the police officers," and that he looks forward to helping protect the citizens of Mount Holly.
