BREAKING: Police Officer Shot in North Austin, in Stable Condition

An Austin SWAT police officer is in stable condition following a shootout in North Austin early this morning.

The SWAT officer was executing a search warrant when he was shot and injured by an 18-year old suspect.

The officers had made entry into the home when the suspect allegedly opened fire from upstairs. Officers returned fire but the suspect was not hit.

One officer was struck in the knee and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect surrendered a few minutes after the shooting occurred and was taken into custody.
