A Park Forest, IL police officer shot and gravely wounded last week is suffering from a traumatic brain injury, his fellow officers said.

Officer Tim Jones, 24, was shot by an assailant last Saturday as he and other officers investigated a break-in. The suspect, identified as Thurman Reynolds, 21, was shot and killed by police.

Fellow officers cite Jones's tremendous will to live; however, he is still battling his injuries.

Officer Jones has been with the Park Forest police department for under a year and he hails from a law enforcement family. His father is the Chief of Police at the Country Club Hills police department.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Officer Jones's medical bills. To date, over $42,000 have been raised.
