A man whom authorities allege fired several rounds at Chicago police detectives on Tuesday is being held without bail with Judge Peggy Chiampas citing the man as a danger "not only to the public but to all citizens of the city of Chicago."

The incident occurred on Tuesday as detectives were investigating a homicide in the area of West Garfield Park. That is when the suspect, John Montgomery, allegedly walked up to the officers, who were in an unmarked police vehicle, and fired four or five shots at them.

Montgomery was subsequently arrested and allegedly admitted to shooting at the officers during a recorded statement.
