The manager of a Greenville, SC Burger King has been fired over allegations that the manager said that fallen Greenville police officer Allen Jacobs "got what he deserved."

The incident unfolded when a customer stated that she went to the Burger King and began a conversation with a cashier that mentioned the recent death of Officer Jacobs, Jacobs was killed by a known gang member last week.

The manager allegedly entered the conversation and said, "The cop got what he deserved, messing with these kids for no reason."

The customer, appalled by what she heard, posted an account of the incident on Facebook. It received widespread coverage as a result.

The manager, although fired, told local WYFF News 4 that the allegations are false.

Burger King's corporate office released a statement, saying, "We extend our condolences to the family of Officer Jacobs and the Greenville community. We are concerned about this incident and take these matters very seriously. The Franchise Owner, who independently owns and operates this restaurant, is launching an investigation in accordance with their personnel procedures."
