A 21-year old man convicted of unlawful imprisonment and carrying a concealed weapon decided to take an unorthodox approach to pleading for a lenient sentence from a judge in Ann Arbor, Michigan: serenading the court with an Adele song.

Brian Earl Taylor broke out into song before his sentence was handed down, creating an awkward scene in the courtroom.

The melodic felon's mea culpa apparently didn't work. The judge sentenced him to 17 years in prison.
